Folic acid (folate) is the main ingredient in a prenatal vitamin that is different from a "regular" daily multivitamin. Most I've seen have 800 mcg of folic acid instead of 400. Most doctors will tell BFing women to just stay on their prenatal vitamins until they stop BFing.
HTH! Any typos are probably a combination of my phone and poor proofreading!

Re: Folic acid while bfing?
I stayed on vitamins while I breastfed my daughter and they had folate in them. I am pretty sure its safe, they add it to all of our food anyway. Read your cereal labels, its in a lot of stuff.
