Re: I could use some cheering...

You can do it mama!! Every baby is a new experience with nursing. Hopefully you can do this for a week or so and your supply will be back to where it needs to be and it will be smooth sailing! You're doing a wonderful thing for your LO, and working hard for it!!

We don't vaccinate, we kept our sons intact, we use cloth diapers, we co-sleep, we extended RF, we breastfeed, but we watch too much tv and I totally dig plastic! Everyone has their issues, lol.

Re: I could use some cheering...

A good side effect of this nurse-in has been that my postpartum bleeding has been non-existent today. (Sorry if that was tmi.) I also discovered my son seems to nurse best in sidelying. Only if he's not too sleepy to get latched on well, though. I can tell he is having more wet diapers, a little better poopy diapers, and more milk into him since he will sometimes spit up again, which he hadn't done for several days. I am pretty sure he is still going to need me to pump though. I don't know if he will get enough from nursing alone without that extra 1/2 oz -1oz which I pump and cup-feed. I wonder how long I will need to keep up with the pumping?

Update - success story!
I was thinking about this thread today and how far we have come! I had to supplement with the pumped milk a while, first by cup, then at 3 weeks switched to using a bottle (with specific instructions from the LC on how to work his mouth, tongue and lips with the bottle nipple to ensure good "latch" and mouth position on the bottle.)
By 6 weeks he no longer needed any "topping off" with the pumped milk.
He is now 8 weeks and about 10 lbs. He has been gaining about an ounce a day for the past month. He did not need any formula and my supply seems just right.
Thanks to all of you who showed your support!

Great job, mama! I know for one how difficult it is to get up in the middle of the night, nurse (or attempt to nurse) Pump, and suppliment. It's not an easy task. You did a great job, Congrats Enjoy your sweet nursing relationship!
