We live in the city so I don't think its too drastic either way.
I just bought some planet. I'm going to try half planet half tide and see were that takes me. Sent from my EVO using DS Forum

I have used bio kleen, dropps, babyganics, charlies(have to add oxy and borax to this), bum genius, rockn' green, tide and the only ones I didn't like were tide and rockin green. I had the same experience as you it got the diapers clean but they smelled soooo strong of tide. With rockin green, I had to use like 4 scoops and they still didn't really seem clean ( classic and hard rock). Any way, all the other ones work pretty well, no strong scents and clean smelling diapers. FWIW, we have pretty hard water, but not well water.

Re: I <3 cloth diapers but hate detergent!
I see you have a toddler. I had to add a long hot soak to my regular routine once we got into real toddlerhood.
I've tried to skip the soaking and the diapers don't smell clean every time. - short cold rinse - hot soak with detergent (4hours or so) - then turn the agitation on and do the wash - extra cold rinse. I use Tide Free. But for us, the soak is essential unless I want to do 2 whole hot washes. |
