What do you call BFing, and why?

I like to say that I'm going to 'breastfeed' my baby, because I think it's important for people to hear the word 'breast' in a non-sexual context (and in the context for which it was meant).

But I usually end up by saying 'nurse' because it's shorter.

I used to say 'feed' with DS but as soon as he started solids, it got too confusing...

You?

I like nursing better. I think simply because of the phrase "nursing back to health" wham I think nursing, I thing of providing the best care and nutrition.

I've always said nursing or feeding. I also would rather say breastfeeding but it's so much easier to just say nursing.

Germans only have one work stillen. I do not think thes differentiate like in english between breast feeding and nursing.

On the rare occasions I am with other English speakers or talking to DH I usually just say I am going to nurse DS. But if we are talking in general about it. i more often say breastfeeding.

I usually say nursing, but I'll say BFing too. My favorite thing to say is "servings" in relation to whether DS ate from one or both breasts

I say nurse. Breastfeeding sounds so...clinical or something to me. I think "nurse" sounds cozy and loving and encompasses how the act is about so much more than simple "feeding".

I use "breastfeeding" in a more clinical desription, and nursing for more casual conversation.

I just say feed/feeding the baby and once they start solids I use the eat/eating for solids.

I actually never use the word nursing for breastfeeding since as an RN that is my profession not my boob's..... and IRL it annoys the heck out of me to hear it. Since the only people I hear use "nursing" to mean breastfeeding are old ladies (my grandmother, her sister, and their friends) who always say that word in a weird tone.
