No suds when stripping with dawn!?

My diapers were not getting clean enough and I felt like they had a fishy smell So I got some dawn to strip them. But I am not seeing any suds in the washer I have a top loading HE machine and I was using All free and clear HE. I used all with my old washer but the washer wasnt HE.

Do I need to do something else?

Oh, I guess I should say I am changing detergent. I made my own. 1 cup boraxx, 1 cup washing soda, and 1 cup oxiclean.

Im thinking it wasnt build up that I wasnt using enough detergent. Or the All free and clear just wasnt doing the job!

I tried All F&C and had a stink problem a month later. One of the CD stores (I think it was Nicki's) told me that All F&C is notoriously bad at getting diapers clean. I wasn't that impressed with it on my clothes either. I switched to RnG and soaked them for an hour and no problem since. I am now on a trial of Country Save and it seems okay but it usually takes a month or so to know for sure.

fels naptha and I believe ivory are great. I use the pink bar, zote. It's awsome!!

You use Zote on your diaper laundry without buildup? What kind of diapers do you use?

I shred it in a cheese greater. I don't use it anymore. I did for about a year, then got to lazy to make more, lol. Didn't get build up though? I have every type under the sun I suppose. Seriously, back then I was using mainly flats, pf's and a cpl pockets.

It was about 1/2 bar graded, 1 box borax, 3 boxes baking soda. I would mix in a bucket of hot water till it turned into a gel/liquid form.
