Just nursed ds....
In his car seat while riding down the road! Ha! My SIL has done it before. I just leaned over him. Oh to be a fly in the cars passing us as it's the middle of the day! And there's been a lot of cars. We're on the highway headed to the beach. I'm riding with my MIL and her best friend and 2 of my boys. DH and my FIL are in another car with ODS.
Anybody else had to do this?

Re: Just nursed ds....
I never would have thought about it, but have a short vacay coming...So I will try!! I usually just do it in the front seat (so I can have the ac)...But not when the car is moving of course!

Re: Just nursed ds....
yes I have many times with DS1! I even got people doing double takes in the car beside us once trying to figure out what I was doing! But hey when baby wants to eat baby gets to eat!

Re: Just nursed ds....
I did it once... We were 30 min from home and it was late... so ... just popped it in there. It was uncomfortable but it worked.

Re: Just nursed ds....
Why not just take the baby out of the carseat? That would seem a lot more convenient IMO!

And while I've done the stretchy boob, there are many people who feel it probably isn't safe in the event of an accident to have an unrestrained or improperly restrained 100lb+ mom over baby.

Re: Just nursed ds....
Oh yes!! MANY times with DD1 who hated the car with a burning intensity. She would scream until she passed out. After that happens once you will do anything to stop them. I tried not to take her anywhere but sometimes you must leave the house. If I had to go out without DH I needed to map out a shady carpark to pull into and get her out for a break. This made trips take forever because I would have to do this on the 15 minute trip to my parents.

Re: Just nursed ds....
I've nursed a million times in the car, but always stopped and baby in the front seat. DD was about 5 weeks old when I took a 6 hour road trip to visit my parents. We got held up in DC rush hour, and she was screaming hysterically. Traffic was at a complete standstill, so I pulled over, brought her in the front seat and fed her. She was so young and used a nipple shield and I was so clumsy still. I wanted to throw up when a cop pulled up behind me and got out. He came to to the window, saw what I was doing and just said "be careful pulling back into traffic ma'am." I think he was quite surprised to see my boob hanging out!
![]() My poor mom had to nurse my brother bending over a hospital bed for weeks when he was 5 months old. 30 years ago the PICU didn't have pumps and she wasn't allowed to hold him, so that's what she had to do.

Too dangerous for me, I'd pull over.
