stinky green poop!

We have gone from EBF to formula and the poop is terrible! It is green and awful smelling. Should I be rinsing in the toilet before washing? I did today however mostly because I couldnt take the smell til wash day tomorrow. Is this green poop normal? BTW.... im giving her parents choice gentle!

Re: stinky green poop!

A lot of formula fed babies will have green poop either because of there being more bile in the poop from the formula being digested quickly, or from the iron in the formula. It's perfectly fine and some babies will adjust to and go back to a more normal color, others will always have the green poop. Nothing to worry about.

As for rinsing, you should rinse it off, but there's been times that I haven't and it's been fine. It will however stain easier if you don't rinse it. I also wash daily most of the time since I have twins, so the poop is never on for longer than a day if I don't rinse it off.
