Re: WTF Easter Basket *head desk*

Just be thankful that she remembered your DD in the first place. My family on either side doesn't do hardly anything for my DD at all and I know that I will not see anything for easter for my DD. I would be greatful even if it were something I were not going to give my DD at all.

That would all be handed out to family that lets their kids eat all that garbage. My DD is almost 3 and I still would never let her have even a 1/4 of that!

Uh, yeah you SHOULD thank her. And, then do whatever with the candy. Just be grateful, even if no one is going to eat it. Grandparents....are...well...Grandparents. They like to give the sweet things, and spoil the heck outta the kids. And, Easter is just one of those holidays where candy is bought! So, say thanks, and be done with it. Donate it.

*mouth full of broccoli she paws at various candies* MmmmMMmmm

well.. my kids aren't too picky when it comes to foods.. they love their fruits and veggies.. and I have no problem giving them candy at easter..
.. they won't end up eating most of it anyway.. (and yes.. that does mean I will.. lol)

Eta: and I would totally thank grandma anyway.. I thank my ex-ILs and they just give the kids the junkiest stuff (cheap toys that break ect). Just smile, thank her.. and do as you please with it..

Re: WTF Easter Basket *head desk*

Is that what she would traditionally consider an easter basket? I ask that because my MIL does easter baskets with probably that much candy if not more for all the grandkids. When dd was 4 mo old she got one filled with candy. Now MIL knows we don't feed dd much candy so she never just hands dd the basket - she gives it to us to give her what we want out of it. The rest she tells us to eat ourselves. But an easter basket is not an easter basket to MIL unless it is overflowing with candy. We just are glad hubby and I don't have to buy treats for ourselves for awhile.

I totally think you should just say thanks and do whatever with the candy. She's probably not goign to want a report on how your LO enjoyed the peeps.

One really nice thing we always did (and I still do) when we were little (that's triplet-speak... I don't have multiple personalities..lol) is handwrite a thank you note to my grandparents for gifts. I started doing it when I could only scribble them a picture. I'm sure your former MIL would appreciate it.
