I agree, just say thanks and go on. It is the thought that counts anyway. She will never know wether your dd ate it all anyway.

I wouldn't feel guildy about just dumping it out or passing it on and telling MIL thank you since it is the thought that counts.

My 2 1/2 yr old dd doesn't get any refined sugar and she believes that chocolate is for adults - or for kids just to "hold" according to her.

holy cow thats alot of candy It really depends on your relationship with her. If your comfortable enough go ahead and mention that is was WAY too much and a stuffed animal or DVD or books would be a better alternative and that way its something she can hold on to for years to come. If you assume it would start something then just thank her for her generosity.

Re: WTF Easter Basket *head desk*

Good idea not to bother telling her no candy I told my gramma no red dye for my DD1 because she is allergic to it, we still get boxes of fruit snacks and bags of candy chock full of red dye. I smile and say thank you and mail it to my sis or brother when we get home LOL

I personally wouldn't say anything but thank you. I would just be happy that someone thought of your DD... despite the fact that it is stuff you wouldn't give her.

Honestly, I think it would be rude to say anything other than just "Thank You." You're under no obligation to give the candy to your child. I think it is wonderful that she sent her an Easter basket.

I would be thankful!! Tell her thank you so much for thinking of doing something so awesome. It looks like it took a lot of thought and effort for her to do that.
