Re: When did you start solids?

Alex has GI issues so GI doc wanted us to start him at 4 months with cereal to see if he would decrease his spit-up/projectile vomiting since he was FTT. It helped

Re: When did you start solids?

lots of babies start grabbing at and mimicking around 4-5 months, it doesn't mean that they are ready (physically) for solids. Their guts don't close until 6-8 months and so intro-ing solids too early can produce problems like allergies, etc. And breast milk has more calories and fat than solids, so big babies do just fine on breastmilk alone. Some babies go up to almost 2 yrs without solids FTR, all 5 of my boys were anywhere from 6-8 months (even 18 yrs ago when they wanted babies to have solids super early). My 14 mo old goes some days without more than a rice cake but other days eats a lot.

Re: When did you start solids?

I voted six months, because DS is 6 months and I gave him a few bites of bananas. He kinda ate it, but we're gonna wait a little longer. He doesn't really want to do anything but nurse....

Re: When did you start solids?

Doctor has suggested starting at 4 mos because of reflux and colic. We have experimented with cereal and sweet potatoes but she seems to be uncomfortable after feeding.
