Unhappy Is is possible to increase supply at 5 months?

I'm 5 months into bfing and my supply seems to be dropping just a little (and a little more on one side). I pump during the day, so I'm able to tell. Is it possible to boost supply again through more frequent feeding/pumping? I'm taking Fenugreek already, but maybe taking more would help?

This seems to be happening now that baby is sleeping for longer stretches at night...

Is your baby satisfied after his feedings? If so, maybe your supply is fine.

If you are needing to boost your supply, when was the last time you changed the membranes in your pump? New membranes can make a difference. Also, how is your water intake? Is your urine light yellow -clear? Make sure you are hydrated well. And make sure you are eating enough. 300-500 extra calories!

Yes, pumping more often can increase your supply. You could also try to continue pumping for a few minutes after it seems like you have stopped flowing. You may be missing a second letdown when pumping if you stop too soon. Good luck to you!

If your baby is satisfied and having adequate diapers then I wouldn't be too concerned (and remember to never let your pumped amount stress you out, since it's not a reliable indicator).

That's about the time that my milk supply has done a "final regulation" after each baby (around 4/5 months). Also, it could be related to your body trying to cycle (have you gotten your cycle back?). I always get a noticeable increase (by the end of the day, even!) just by adding more oatmeal into my diet (COOKIES!!).

No cycle yet, but now that baby is sleeping about 6 hours at a time, it wouldn't surprise me if it returns.

I'm going to increase fluids, change the membranes and watch the calories a little (add some oatmeal too!).

Little guy seems happy and healthy. I've never been able to bf beyond 6 months with my other two because I didn't make pumping at work a priority. This time I have, so maybe I'm just overly concerned.

Make sure you're well-hydrated.
Lactation cookies really helped me.
Going from pumping 2x to 3x at work also helped my supply.
Mother's milk tea helps me.
Also, a good diet with enough protein also helps.

I had a little trouble when my DS was around 6 months old. Going from pumping 2x at work to pumping 3x really helped. I also took fenugreek, made lactation cookies, ate oatmeal, and drank water like it was going out of style!

Yes, the little flat white rubbery discs. They're about the size of a dime. I'm assuming you have a medela pump. The are attached to the yellow, hard plastic pieces (the valve) that attach to the clear part that screws on the bottle. You do not need to replace the valves....just the membranes.

Good luck...keep us posted!

I've had great success with the Motherlove Special Blend supplement. Also, what are lactation cookies...I think I need/want some of these
