Uh-oh! Toddlers and chairs/climbing

If you get chairs that don't have cross-bars, she might not be able to climb up on them.

For example, my son doesn't climb up on our dining chairs:

But when I brought one of these downstairs, he was all over it. He fell off it and smashed his ear too.

The cross-brace between the legs gives them a easy boost up.

My son scooted a chair in the kitchen, put his brothers puppy in the toaster oven and turned it on. Yikes!

We put the chairs upside down on the table when DD did that. My bff is doing that to with her DD, who fell and smacked her head hard before bff could get to her. So even pushed in they aren't safe.

I put our dining room chairs in the mud room because ds uses them to climb on everything. I usually have to hide the bathroom stool several times a day because he brings it out to help get stuff. Dd2 was the EXACT same way but DS is taller and is about to reach stuff sooner.

No problem. I like that you can use them when they are in their booster seat too! We just have the Fisher Price Space Saver high chair, so its on a regular chair...we'll be able to "buckle him in" without him kicking the chair away from the table!
