Blessed with Children Struggling for More, Week of July 17th

This thread is for women that have children and are either dealing with secondary infertility or have had children after dealing with primary infertility and know that treatment is the only way they will have more children. We also have women that due to either prior losses, or infertility don't feel like they should join a due date board till after the first trimester (12 weeks).

Please note: When your information needs to be updated, please highlight the area that needs to be updated. This will make it easier for me to update you.

If you'd like to be added please post your info. Please note I remove names if you are inactive for one month. This really helps keep the list more manageable.

Re: Blessed with Children Struggling for More, Week of July 17th

Right now we are half way to Houston.... We couldn't bring our little man but he is with my mom so he is thrilled( she has ten adopted kiddos and he has a blast there being a wild man). Our two year is doing awesome which is a relief when on a road trip! Always interesting when getting a two year old to sleep in a room with other people though.

So that being said.... Probably no more Internet after today and left all my tests at home but two so i will test tomoroow and again wed to see if the hcg is in my system still but only for that reason... I will be 10dpo when we get home so hopefully the hcg will be out by ten days..... Hope you all have a awesome week.....will check in on my phone but it's a pain so probably won't comment much.

Liesl: Have a good trip! :-)

Sorry for the BFN Heather!!! Do you guys have plans for another FET any time soon?

Ardenne: I hope your body holds off until the docs call you back!

AFM: We BDed this morning. O pains this evening. Waiting for DH to get DD to fall asleep so we can BD again. I know 2x in 1 day isn't ideal for low count but I do think it's better than waiting until tomorrow and risking the egg being gone.

Re: Blessed with Children Struggling for More, Week of July 17th

Liesl - Have fun!

Cindy - You gotta do what you gotta do.

Ardenne - strange. Hopefully, you can talk to the dr. about it in tomorrow.

We have plans to do another FET next spring. We normally start the process around 16-18 months pp, but we are waiting longer this time. The "babies" will be just about 2. Last time, we weren't expecting a second set of twins. We knew it could happen and wanted it to, but we really didn't think it would. We don't really want to risk having a 3rd set of twins in just over 2 years again. That was a bit crazy. So, while I don't really want to wait that long, we decided this would be best. The other option was to do it sooner and only transfer one. Since we pay out of pocket, that would double our cost. It was also double my pregnancies and I'm not getting any younger. We felt waiting a little longer was the best option. But, until then, we will try on our own. Mike and I just talked about this last night (we got a date night thanks to the Grandparents!) and he is definitely still on board with us trying.

Re: Blessed with Children Struggling for More, Week of July 17th

Heather: I don't know how you manage 2 sets of twins so close - with another little one on top of it! You must be super mom! I used to be so scared of the thought of twins, but with all we are going through now, the idea sounds kind of wonderful to me now. I have been on the fence about having a 3rd and now I feel like we will be darn lucky to have a 2nd and that unless we have twins, a third is likely out of the question. My RE thinks my odds of having twins is pretty low, even on all sorts of fertility meds. But he can't know that for sure! Anyway, I hope you guys end up with the homemade baby that you so both desire! But at least you have the FET in spring to look forward to. :-)

Dewberri: Congrats on AF! I'm so glad you won't be needing a D&C. Are you guys waiting to start trying again until after all your testing?

AFM: I start my prometrium tomorrow. DH and I have IUI orientation at the RE's office tomorrow afternoon. Guess they will go over the entire protocal and teach us both how to give me the trigger shot. I suppose I am looking forward to it bc it will be the last thing to check off our to do list before we can do IUI next month. We've done our labs. DH's came back fine. I am still waiting on my fragile X test to see if I am a carrier. Being a carrier for fragile x can be a cause of premature ovarian failure. I need to know if I am a carrier bc if I am, I have 50% chance of passing on the disease to a son!! I am so praying I am not a carrier!!!! I had the test done 2 weeks ago so hopefully the results will be in soon.

Cindy

Re: Blessed with Children Struggling for More, Week of July 17th

Vegan - good luck tomorrow! We are waiting 3 regular cycles... that should put us at about a week past when I can begin testing. When we talk to Dr about testing we'll figure out if we are waiting... I hate to put it off any longer than we need to... but if we find something that needs treatment... argh.

Heather - personally, I think you are crazy with so many little ones!! I hope you can get pregnant on your own and glad DH is on board... but then, the guys seem to be all about the old fashioned method of TTC I don't see what all the hype is about...

I have a confession... I did something I would not have done if I wasn't feeling so angry, sad, empty, etc. etc.... I thought you mamas would understand. And I know you can all use a little sunshine I think I might name her Rhea...

DD held the puppy while we shopped for her food, toys, collar, et al.

She's pretty good at hiding in the grass... where the grass in a few inches tall

We rescued her from a shelter nearby. Lab/Shepherd/Hound mix?

Re: Blessed with Children Struggling for More, Week of July 17th

Heather - I am also amazed that you can handle that many little ones all the time. I'd love to think I'd be super mom and could handle it all, but sometimes the one I have drives me insane and makes me think I'm crazy for wanting one more. But I think sometimes I think that to ease the heartache of not having another.

Joy - What a cute little puppy, congratulations! I have no idea what she is - maybe in time it will be easier to tell? We have a black female pug puppy that DH got me for Valentine's Day. I thought it sounded crazy, but she has eased the pain of TTC and the losses as well. We used to have 2 large dogs, but they had both passed of cancer (they were brothers) the previous year and I missed having a dog. And a small lapdog like my pug was just what the doctor ordered. I have pampered and babied her and she sits in my lap or at my feet in the afternoon while I work. She's not a baby but she's *my* baby and she fills an emotional void.

AFM, I had another ultrasound on Friday. The 3 MM sack had grown to 10.5. The doctor thought he saw something in it but then he got distracted when he saw a second sac that wasn't there the week before. It measured 3.9 MM and was too small to expect to see anything in it.

The doctor is still saying m/c, and at 8 weeks today (which would have made the ultrasound at 7w4d) he's probably right. I haven't bled or cramped or anything. I actually had a horrible bought of morning sickness on Thursday night. Home tests are still blaringly positive. He says I can probably go 2 months without needing surgical intervention if I want to wait it out, so for the meantime that's what I'll do. I can have another ultrasound sometime late next week, probably no later than Thursday since my doctor said he'll be out of town starting that Friday.

I tried to scan the ultrasound pictures but my scanner was acting up so I just had to take photos with my phone. So the quality isn't great, but this is what they gave me:

The first sac, now at 10.5 MM, up from 3 MM 10 days earlier. Do you see anything in there?

And another one where you can see the second, small sac we saw for the first time:
