Help my poor baby poop

I seriously want to cry here! He has a large poo stuck in his rectum, and his anus is stretched open but he can't squeeze it out! He is crying I've tried lubing it up, I've tried half a gylcerian supposetory and of course bicycleing and a warm bath. I feel awful. I am also waiting a call back from the ped

Poor thing Did you try taking his temperature? That might help break the poo up a bit and get things going.

Re: Help my poor baby poop

How long has it been since he poo'ed? Was it hard last time? When my lo was having a hard time going, I inserted the glycerin suppository and held it, but didn't push it all the way in, for ~5 min. then within 10 min he went.

At this point I would get a baby fleet enema. Put it in a bowl of hot water so that it will warm up. Gently insert the very tip and gently squeeze to get some of the liquid in his bum. You can move the tip around a bit to try and break up the bm. Try to hold him so the liquid doesn't come out right away. You can repeat with the suppository to help the whole situation come out.

Re: Help my poor baby poop

I'd go the "natural" way and give him jarred baby prunes or some prune juice watered down. But, be careful how much you give as you could have an explosion. (we aren't a juice family so sometimes he will not drink it but he'd eat it). When our son was little - 7 -12 months we'd give him some every few days. If you do any formula, the Gerbers Gentle what ever in the 3 oz glass jars gave us poops too. We did one 3 oz a day (or it was way too much poop).

Thank you ladies. It had been about 6 days so the ped wanted him to came in. (just got back) They were able to use some gylcerin and gave him some stool softners. Oh the horribleness is over!! Prunes are now a regular part of the diet!!
