Re: If your child was sick would you take them out to playdate??

No way. I remember bringing DD out for the first time to BRU to get some diapers and passing a brother/sister begging their dad for a toy saying 'But Dad, we're sick!' Wanted to smack him for bringing those sick kids to a public store where so many babies go.

Currently I have 2 friends who have kids who are constantly sick. On one hand, I feel that they'd NEVER get to bring their kids out since they're always coming down w/ something. OTOH, they're so casual about it that they don't really warn us till the kids are already playing. One of those friends has a nb who's sick w/ yellow snot and the works--said they all got sick from their other DD (the one who's always sick). I'm thinking 'If the whole family got sick, who's to say mine won't, too?' Then one of the kids' dads mentions he's going to start a new nighttime med for strep throat that night. What?!?!

I wish they would mention their kids are sick and let us decide whether or not to expose our DC to them or not. Sadly, they all came to MY house, so there was nothing we could do but try to stay outside in the fresh air--and distract DD away from their parents who think it's cute to see them kiss eachother.

As for my DD--when she's sick, I don't even let a babysitter stay w/ her, knowing I'll be more diligent in getting her down for naps, fluids in her and lots of calm play instead of travelling all over the world as MIL loves to do.

no! I wouldn't b/c I wouldn't want my child to be out sick, feeling badly, and their immune system is already fighting something (even if on antibiotics!!), so they are more likely to catch something else, plus I wouldn't want to spread the germs to other kids!!!

Oh that is awful! I don't understand why people are so inconsiderate sometimes!

I hope your kiddos are okay.

Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope. I would never. I think asthma and a bug are totally different. If there's an asthma or allergy flare up, that's one thing..but SICK sick..absolutely NO way. I use the "treat people the same way you want to be treated" theory and I know that I don't want my kids around sick kids...so, I won't bring my kids if they're sick.

Well I'm glad to see that it isn't the "norm" I didn't think it was.

I'm really hoping the parents just didn't know it was as serious as it was or something, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt here.

Guess I'm not as crazy as I thought for constantly cleaning the kids hands and having sanitizer on hand EVERYWHERE!

I said it depends. If it weren't CONTAGIOUS, I would. UTI's, ear infections, anything like that so long as they had been on antibiotics for at least 24 hrs, the drs say they're good to go. We have a cough in our house that won't go away, and it's been hanging around since Christmas!

Whoops, I voted before I read the first post. If they were hacking up a lung no way. However, DD has had a clear runny nose and I checked with the pg mommies before I brought her. She gets a runny nose when she teeths apparently, and she's been teething for a month so that would be a month with no playgroup and I would lose my mind.
