help...leaking out the side in padfolds and covers

update: I've figured out he leaks when he lays on his side, when he's sleeping or nursing. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
He does not like the feeling of being wet, or a having a snappied pf so I'm not so sure about snappi-ing or using a fitted

We switched to padfolded flats and Nikky covers because DS was having heat rash and chafing issues. They are working great so far, except he tends to leak out of them at night. The pee comes out the side, but it comes out the top.
How can I fix that?

Are you using a doubler? Have you tried wool or fleece over that?

I had the same thing happen the one night I pad-folded a flat (flannel). I just assumed it wasn't absorbent enough or the flannel just didn't absorb the pee fast enough.

If the flat isn't wet, then I would guess it is a fit issue with the cover. I'm not familiar with Nikkky covers though--can you make them tighter at the waist?
I don't think I've ever had leaks with a fully prepped cotton insert in a cover...only with pockets or a BG Organic that wasn't prepped enough.
Is the bamboo fully prepped? I don't use bamboo either but I think that it takes many washings to be prepped.

the bamboo zorb one is old so it's def prepped fine.
mayeb it's not tight enough? it doesnt leak on the front or back. just on the hip, but out the top of the diaper.

is it because when he sleeps he sleeps on his side sometimes? maybe it wouldnt leak if I used a fitted or soemthing underneath. He just doesnt like feeling wet and he'd get that wetness on his hips in a fitted.

or are there fitteds with a stay dry inner?
