This sounds horrible but please help

I started a new job a few weeks ago and have been severely struggling with juggling all my household chores.... Would it be completely terrible to only wash my diapers once or twice a week? Then add bleach to the wash to kill any growing bacteria? I really don't want to quit cd-ing and I know every mother has her downfall at least once but washing every other day isn't happening anymore

Re: This sounds horrible but please help

I have enough diapers that I only wash twice a week most weeks (unless we have some crazy poop days or there are dirty diapers that I'm wanting to use). I work full time, take care of the kids, help DH with his job, and take care of EVERYTHING at our house (chores, bills, etc). DH changes clothes 3 times a day, if I was washing diapers every day or every other day our normal laundry would never have time to get clean! I'm sure there have been weeks where I've washed once a week. We have a diaper sprayer so I spray every diaper off before putting it in the wetbag. Then the bag moves downstairs to sit by the washer until I get down there and throw them in. I have a FL so it usually takes 2 loads (I don't want to overload the washer and not get things clean). I've never had a problem with stinkies or anything else. We use a lot of bumgenius, and they suggest a 1/4 cup of bleach every once in awhile, so I just do that probably once every 2 months or so. No issues! I say go for it. Don't stress. If your house starts smelling like poop, then you can wash them!

I only wash once a week. Well, usually every 5 days or so.

It is not horrible. I have been doing for over 3 years now with no problems. I usually wash once week and have never had any issues with stains or stinks. I do it in 2 loads normally as there are so many. I do the inserts in 1 wash and the shells in the other wash. I can barely keep up with my reg laundry so there is no way i can do diaper laundry every couple of days. I keep 2 wetbags. One upsatirs and one down. I never smell anything through the bag or anything.

Hmm I dunno, I think I've had to skip diaper laundry before and it hasn't been a problem. My mom always told me just to through baking powder on each diaper as I threw it in the pail, and it would soak up liquid and kill germs, seemed to work for me.

Nope! I wash twice a week as well. Once on Wednesday and the next on Saturday or sunday, depending on my week. One tip is that I use prefolds and flats in the evenings since they are easier to rinse and get the smell and bacteria growth down to a minimum.

Ive definitely routinely gone 4 days before for a long while. You may have to strip/boil more often, but I found especially in the summer with the sunning, I didnt need too.

If I was doing that I'd toss them in the washer on a rinse cycle on the 2nd or 3rd day and let them sit till I did the next load. I've been known to do that.
