Do you gain weight after weaning?

Just curious since I lost about 20lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight due to bfing and I don't want it to come back after I stop whenever DS feels like it! I also don't want to pump for the rest of my life lol

you may. i see the theory, if you don't eat less, and aren't making milk, you may gain some. but imo, i think your loss is more than just bfing. 20lb is a substantial sum!
i was 2nd trimester when i weaned, so no 1st hand advice

I dunno what I did, I eat just just as much as before and exercise less lol! I was so surprised, I lost most of it the first month. I assumed it was bfing since DS is like some crazy monster baby Whatever works!

Well, my weight held on while breastfeeding, and dropped like a bad habit after I was through. Just fell off. Go figure! I'm almost looking forward to weaning just to lose weight! LOL!

I dropped like 35 pounds in the first 4 months of DD's life, largely due to nursing. I think once she even started solids and was nursing less, the weight creeped back on. By the time she weaned at age 2, I had put back on like 20 of those pounds. Since then, about another 5 or so has come back. I need to get pregnant again so I can nurse another baby and lose this weight!

Definitely be careful with your diet and exercise once nursing even slows down. It doesn't even have to be totally done for the weight to come back.

Nope. My weight falls off after weaning. It's while nursing that I have a heck of a time trying to lose. I think it has to do with my metabolism or something.

I've heard it both ways. I guess it depends on your body. Some of my friends could not lose that last 5-10 pounds until they stopped nursing. But for me I gained 5-10 pounds when I weaned. I was nursing twins though. I'm curious to see what happens with this baby. I hope I can keep the weight off.

Amongst my friends it's one or the other... I bet your body likes to hang on to the weight while nursing and it'll come off when you wean!

This was me with my first 2!! I'm having the same "looking forward to weaning" thoughts, too with this baby. I just joined WW last week and lost 3 lbs the first week. I've also just picked back up with more regular exercise. I want to lose another 15 or so lbs.
