Diaper Swappers

We adopted the most wonderful little shih tzu this week from a shelter a few towns over this weekend. Today I took him for the physiacala and found out he has a really heavy load of heartworms from his previous life. He starts treatment next week and if should be OK,but their is the risk it can kill him.
Please pray for him he is a wondweful little dog a deserves a good happy life

We took in a dog when I was a kid that had heartworms too. He pretty much had been running the woods fending for himself for several months and was covered in flea and ticks and was very skinny. When my parents took him to the vet for shots, they found out he had heartworms. He got the treatment and did well, he lived until he was about 14 or 15 (we don't know exactly how old he was when we got him, they told us he was around 2). I hope your dog handles the treatment well and will get a long happy life with your family!

mama. I've worked at a vet and have seen very good outcomes. I know death can happen but in the time working there I never saw that once. Keeping your pup in my thoughts

Thinking of your pup! My beloved lhasa apso got them when she was nine. She had the treatments and lived until she was 16!
