Looks perfect to me. Breastmilk is made of almost 90% water so that looks just right.

Re: Is this a good amount

looks good. Mine had about double the fat, but I ate a lot of cheese since it was quick.

If you want to really see how fatty it can get, eat some Popeyes and then pump- you'll be amazed

Re: Is this a good amount

It doesn't really matter. Sometimes I think pumping and being able to examine our milk and measure it and all that is really detrimental to actually nursing a baby.

Quote:
The research tells us that baby's milk intake (the volume of milk - not the amount of fat in that milk) is the only thing that has been correlated with infant growth in exclusively breastfed babies. As noted earlier, average fat content of human milk is highly variable, but has not proven to be significant when calculating baby's total energy intake or weight gain. (Aksit 2002, Butte 1984, Cregan 1999, Mitoulas 2003, Mitoulas 2002.)

Also:

Quote:
The research tells us that mom's diet does not affect the average amount of fat or calories in her milk. However, mom can change the types of fat in her milk by altering the types of fats that she eats (Lawrence 1999, p. 106-113, 300-305; Hamosh 1996, Hamosh 1991, p. 123-124). An increase of one fatty acid could generally be expected to occur concurrently with a decrease in another. For example, one study has shown that black mothers in South Africa who eat a traditional maize diet have less monunsaturated fatty acid in their milk than urban mothers who consumed more animal proteins and fats (van der Westhuyzen 1988).

Looks the same as mine, too. I might have just a little more but it doesn't seem to change with what I eat. I pump every day at work so I always have milk in the frige and its always looks pretty much the same.

Re: Is this a good amount

I've noticed if I express after feedings early in the day I can get a lot more milk at once but there's less fat, just a thin layer on top. Later in the day as my supply drops it gets harder to express as much milk after feedings, but what I do get is very creamy and rich looking with a lot more fat content when it separates.

I get like half of that! Not that DS needs it (he's 18lbs at almost 4 months @_@) but I'm jealous
