Re: My bumGenius seconds are repelling like crazy

They are microfiber, so no need to "prep," just wash once & go.

To the original poster - I really think it's probably a fit issue for you, check closely to see if his bum is against the fabric and that there aren't any leg gaps. My DD was leaking through a lot of leg holes her first couple of weeks, until she got a little chub on them.

Andrea (DecsMama) - I wonder if you need more absorbancy?? Sounds like you might have some compression leaks going up the back - maybe try a doubler or a bamboo or hemp insert. Hope this helps :-)

Re: My bumGenius seconds are repelling like crazy

So glad you posted this, because mine leaked last night also. DD has been wearing our first quality ones overnight for a few weeks. Last night I put one of the 2nds on her and she was wet right outside one leg this morning. Putting her in one again tonight so we'll see if it was just a fluke or if there is an issue with these.

I hate suedecloth. Or maybe I wasn't putting the diapers on tight enough--those were my first diapers and I didn't really know what I was doing. In any case my bG's leaked on me from day 1 (first quality and bought new). Eventually I decided they werent working for us and sold them. I never did figure out why they didn't work for me.

Are they on him tight enough? The suedecloth needs the pressure of his bum to push the pee through. The drip test is not an accurate test for repelling.
This.

And MF doesn't need prepping.

Could this leaking issue be the reason they are seconds??? I hope not cause I just bought a TON of them!!!!!

I don't think so - the seconds issues are stated to be cosmetic in nature only, but that the diapers are still fully functional.

I don't think so either. I used BG AIO first quality when DS was born and had the same issues described here. It was only the AIOs we had problems with. But as DS grew, the leaking issue went away. I just think it's lack of pressure to push moisture through the suedecloth as newborns don't have much weight and fill out the diaper less fully. I just bought large seconds for DS and they work great!

Mine do not leak. I think fit and or not enough rinsing before the dryer is to blame. repelling is not the defect on the dipes its just visual stuff thats the flaw.
