Sposie vent!!!

DD and I have been out of town visiting family for the past two weeks. I have come to the conclusion that I strongly dislike disposable diapers!!

1. We hadn't had to buy any yet at home (gifted to us), so spending $20 here on a box that'll last a week was hard to swallow. That's a ton of money I am grateful we don't have to spend on a regular basis!

2. We have had numerous blowouts up the back!!! Never dealt with that using CD's, and I am pissed because her EBF poo has stained a ton of clothes and blankets, plus a few of my clothes!!

I wasn't against sposies before (used them at night at home), but now I just want to forget 'em!

I wasn't against sposies before either, I just liked cloth better, too, until I read an article about how P&G is trying to convince people in poor countries that they "need" sposies...when the people don't have the money to buy them. It's very sad.

BTW I like your daughter's name!

The leaks are what finally pushed me into cloth. I had been talked out of cloth by family and friends and for a while only Luvs and Up and Up worked. Then I couldn't get a good fit with Up&Up and Luvs changed their dipes. They were the only dipes that didn't leak pee for us, but I was having daily blowouts with them, which I never had with cloth. So, I made the switch and haven't looked back. We have a stash of sposies left, but we haven't used one in months--not since I found out the church nursery will use cloth

Re: Sposie vent!!!

I just can't stand the smell of a sposie anymore once it's peed in. It makes me gag. Ick! I think I'm just overly sensitive to it now since we haven't used sposies on a routine basis in over 2 years. I much prefer cloth!

Each have there pros and cons but I do agree that sposies are very expensive.

Just a tip to avoid blow outs when forced to use sposies. Just put a snug fitting diaper cover over the sposie to hold the mess in better. I did this when dd was very sick with diarrhea and was tired of rinsing poo of every cloth diaper. So I put her in sposies and put a cover over it and it worked great.

I can't stand the sposies anymore either. Even DH agreed with me after so many blowouts and leaks in one or two days of being stuck using them.

seriously? I'd love to see that. That's nearly as terrible as targeting them with baby formula saying they "need" formula.

Re: Sposie vent!!!

That's funny. DH and I just discussed this when we got back from our vacation. We ended up being gone for a little over a week and he didn't want to bring the cloth dipes with us...I ended up getting a great deal on a pack that lasted us the whole trip for $1.99 on drugstore.com website and free shipping, so that wasn't a big deal. The first wet diaper on the trip we regreted it. I never noticed the stink they have until we hadn't used them for so long. YUCK! He changed one diaper and was wondering if there was any place to just go and pick up a quick stash of cloth for our DS. Yes, he was that desperate...hehe! Guess we know we are NEVER going back!
