fat content?
I thought I saw a thread with this same question a few days ago but I can't seem to find it. I have a super active boob that gets engorged very easily. I pumped it first thing when I woke up and got 100ml (full bottle worth). Now that its been in the fridge and has settled a very thin layer of cream have formed on top. My dd seems to be gaining weight just fine but should I be concerned with milk with such a low fat content? I'm sure I'm looking into this more than I need to. Thanks!

Re: fat content?
No, if your DD is gaining well, don't give it another thought. http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/milk/change-milkfat.html

Re: fat content?
I agree with pp, don't worry about it if your baby is gaining weight just fine. Your milk will change as your baby grows and baby's needs change.

When you're engorged you have a lot of foremilk in the breast, and the foremilk is not as fatty as the hindmilk. I don't think that bottle you pumped is representative of your normal milk.

I agree. I notice that the milk I can express earlier in the day when I'm more full is less fatty than the milk I express later in the day when I'm more empty.

Re: fat content?
If you want to increase the fat content of your milk in general try lactation cookies. But stick to the recommended amount as they are really yummy and easy to overinduldge! Just search for lactation cookies. I added extra dried fruit to mine and became addicted! I did notice a huge difference in the fat layer of my milk as mine was very thin and DD wasn't acting satisfied.
