Baby bijorns are super uncomfortable in my opinion. I used a friend's once when my wrap was at home. Check out ergo carriers.. also Mei tai's. Those two are both quick, easy and comfy

Re: sell me on babywearing...
Nononoooo, not a Baby Bjorn!!!! LOL
For your stats, I"d check out the Olives & Applesauce! Here are the steps! Buckle waistband around your hips hold baby against your chest Pull front panel up and over baby Throw shoulder straps across your back and buckle (makes an X) Tighten straps It's as easy as holding your baby in your arms, but better 'cause then you have 2 hands free for your older kids, cleaning, computer, etc...

Re: sell me on babywearing...
A mei tie is also a nice option in between a wrap and a soft structured carrier. The learning curve is pretty quick and they are a easier to nurse in, IMO. I love a freehand for newbies. A babyhawk, or catbird are also great options. Best to buy from for sale or trade or from a reputable vendor! Some fakes have been showing up on eBay lately.
Ohhh and I see that Jillian has wrapstars! They are lovely as well and have a softly padded waist. I wear wraps and mei Tais till my babies are about a year old and the switch over to buckle carriers (ssc not bjorn) |

Re: sell me on babywearing...
I loved my Moby. I think the sleepy wrap is basically the same thing. Ring slings are nice too but can get uncomfortable after a while because they distribute all the weight on one shoulder. The wraps such as Moby distribute the weight on both shoulders. I wore my 2 month old at the zoo in a homemade Moby for 8 hours straight and I wasn't uncomfortable at all the whole time besides getting a little sweaty after a while. The only thing I don't like about them is getting them on when you're out somewhere. Because it's a 6 yard long piece of fabric, it dangles on the ground and stuff. But it was still worth it. I bought 6 yards of a lightweight kind of gauze material that has just a bit of stretch on the diagonal on clearance for $1 a yard. It was 60 inches wide so I cut it down the length so I had 2 pieces of 6 yard long, 30 in. wide pieces of fabric. Voila. 2 "moby" wraps. For $6. And I actually like them better because they are lightweight and not as stretchy.

Re: sell me on babywearing...
There is definitely a learning curve to wrapping, but it really only takes a bit of practice.
I agree with PP, YouTube has some really great videos. My son is just 8 weeks old and if it wasn't for my wraps I'd never get anything done, lol. I love them! |
