mom guilt!!

The mom guilt is killing me this week. I had to miss both of my kids spring concerts due to work. Then I have work guilt because I called off Wednesday for my daughter's baton recital. I picked that one to call off for so I could do her hair and make-up. I can't win. It worked out that I was off because my father-in-law had his truck break down so I had to run him to the shop. And I did arrange for family to go to both concerts. But I hated missing them. I wish they didn't have morning concerts.

That's rough. I'm sure they know you support them though.

Re: mom guilt!!

I hear you on that - what can you do though? In the long run it doesnt impact their trust or love for you, and I guess thats what matters. My husband's mom worked long hours and passed away when he was a teenager. He adored he then and cherishes her memories now....kids ALWAYS love their moms (and I keep telling myself that when my baby cries and I have to walk away to work! )

Oh wow, I totally forgot I posted this. Ds has evening concerts this year, so that helps.

Hehehee--that's funny that your thread got resurrected. And awesome that you've got evening concerts this year. Honestly, who does morning concerts with school-age kids?? I'd think most parents couldn't make it. My husband and I would be able to make the time (we have super-flexible remote work jobs), but it would definitely mean we'd get behind in our work for the week. I need my daytime work hours so that I have the evenings and weekends free to be Mom, honestly.

I don't know why the elementary concerts are akk in the morning. Then the high school concerts and baton recitals are on Wednesdays. I workj until 7 and then have church on Wednesdays. Ugh. This time I'm lucking out. Baton is on a Tuesday and band is on a Thursday. Still haven't heard about viola.
