Needing some recipes!
Ok mamas, heres what ive got...
10 red apples bookoos of canned applesause bookoos of canned black beans. I need recipes for all of them. But not together! I dont want to make applesauce with the red apples, since I have soooo many cans of it already. If you've got any good ideas for my oddly hoarded food I want to hear them!!

Re: Needing some recipes!
I made http://gnowfglins.com/2011/04/18/app...atmeal-soaked/ the other day and I think it could use 1 or 2 more apples and you could likely replace the rapadura for apple sauce. I think that would be really tasty! It is hearty and it has lasted us 3 meals so far with likely an easy 4th.
I can only think of bean taco's or salads for your black beans. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Re: Needing some recipes!
How about baked ham with cinnamon apples and what ever. Then left over ham to make black bean soup? I have 2 really good recipes for black bean soup- one purees half the beans and is thicker and the other is thin broth type.
I like black beans with sauted onions and garlic- i usually throw in some tomatoes. Or black beans and rice- got a recipe I like for that too. Applesauce I really don't have anything- my kids eat it daily and I use it in place of oil, but that wouldn't use a ton. Pancakes/waffles with applesauce? Apples- homemade empandas/ hand held apple pies- both can be frozen and cooked or heated later. You can core a whole apple the stuff it with butter, butter oatmeal and cinnamon and microwave. That,s all I can come up with

Re: Needing some recipes!
We eat tons of apples as snacks or diced in oatmeal with cinnamon. I second the apple pies a PP mentioned.
"Fried apples" are the best! I used this recipe. Just back off the sugar a little bit, since they're not tart apples.Applesauce can be used as a healthy sub for oils in baking. It also makes everything super moist! I have no ideas for the beans other than soup.

Re: Needing some recipes!
Quote:
My favorite recipe: 1 teas olive oil 1 onion chopped 4 cloves garlic, minced 3/4 cup cooked rice 1 1/2 cups broth (vegi or chicken) you could just use water 1 can diced tomatoes with juice (or fresh equiv) 1 teas ground cumin 1/4 teas cayene papper (I usually use in between 1/4 and 1/8) 3 1/2 cups canned black beans I also add 1/2 cup frozen corn Saute onion and garlic for a few mins, add rice and saute 2 mins. add broth/water, tomatoes and corn if your using it. Bring to boil, cover and lower heat. cook 20 mins (longer if your using brown rice- I do and I still end up draining some juice off). Then add beans an spices (and canned corn if you want to use that) heat through.

Re: Needing some recipes!
It cooks during the 20 mins- that's using a brown rice that normally takes 10 mins to cook. So if your using a rice that would take 20 min boil time you'll probably need to cook for 30-35 mins.
