Car seats tested for chemicals PSA
HealthyStuff.org has published these years chemical study for toxic chemicals in car seats. The link is to the best and worst list but there is a longer report available on the site.

Re: Car seats tested for chemicals PSA
I was just coming to post this: http://www.parentcentral.ca/parent/b...toxic-chemical
Which I think is the same thing just a different site. Awesome All the seats I own are on the list. LOL My Chicco that was I going to use for this new baby coming, got rat pee'd/ pooped on so I tossed it and bought a Britax Infant seat in the silver/black combo. NIce, one of the higher ones....sigh.

Re: Car seats tested for chemicals PSA
I was wondering what all you mamas thought about this? is it hyped up too much? my DD has the britax marathon 70 in allison...its moderate at a .8. Am I a bad mama for not being too worried about this? I feel like i EBF, CD, love my baby to pieces...
i bought this car seat because it was one of the highest rated for safety. I try my best to protect my DD and do best for her, but i cannot conquer all.

Anyway, my kid doesn't stick any part of the carseat in his mouth so he's not ingesting it. I've never been a fan of using carseats in strollers or for extended periods outside the car. These chemicals are EVERYWHERE! For one, we just went to a public pool - I'm sure there's a lot more chlorine there than in his car seat and he most likely swallowed some. As for lead, I'm pretty sure the worst affect of that is if ingested and if you kid is eating their carseat that's an entirely different issue all together. I'll choose crash test safety over chemicals any day!

Yeah, people flip out about this but don't realize that they're putting their kids in sleepwear with the same chemicals on them.
The sleepwear skeeves me out because it's touching skin for a loooong amount of time during the day (night). Car seat usage is generally a lot less than that, and you're protected by clothes....

Re: Car seats tested for chemicals PSA
And I agree it's hype. I can promise you that the plastics and foams in our cars that the carseats are used in are way more toxic. hehe
My child doesn't chew on her car seat or sit in it for extended periods of time either.

Does anyone have a link to the list of the seats and they're actual ratings? All I can find are the short best and worst lists...
