Re: Ammonia buildup/burn... what to change in my routine?

I'm so glad you got rid of the ammonia! I got rid of it by switching to tide f & g (the original version, not ultra).

This article about ammonia was on my facebook this morning:

Re: Ammonia buildup/burn... what to change in my routine?

Thanks everyone! I'm really glad it's gone too! Now that it's totally gone, the rashes are clearing up SO FAST!!

omgoodgravy, I did my cold rinse cycle, then a hot cycle with the 1.5 cups of baking soda and 1 cup of vinegar, then a hot cycle with 3/4 cup bleach, then a hot cycle with about a table spoon (maybe a little more, I didn't measure properly LOL) of blue dawn dish soap, then about 5-6 hot cycles to rinse! It was probably excessive, but I was DONE with the ammonia and I over rinse because I can NEVER remember to check to see if the suds are gone! LOL But do note I have neutral well water water (after the softener it's not hard not soft) and an oldschool top loader washer and I did use more water than needed as well. So take that into consideration as well. I'm not an expert by any means, but this killed EVERYTHING and the diapers ALMOST smell clean when they're soiled! LOL They're THAT clean! LOL

Thank goodness I got this figured out! We were down to 1 diaper and were thinking about going to the zoo today (although that didn't pan out) so we bought a small pack of sposies just so I could take my time with this (hopefully LAST, at least for a while) strip and not stress over diapers while out and about, and OMG, I don't know how I ever did sposies!! I will NEVER go back!! I'd rather use all the bleach on the shelves! LOL These things STINK (What is it about Luvs that they're the only diapers that don't leak, but they smell like an old lady with too much perfume on?!) and they're just all around GROSS!! My kids are hating them too! The only way I convinced my son to keep his on was entertain him that he was wearing a purple monkey! LOL They're both trying to pull them off and walking funny and making weird faces pushing on them trying to understand it! LOL Hard to believe we were exclusively using these things not that long ago!! How GROSS! LOL
