Anyone teach overseas here?
Has anyone been an English teacher overseas? I was looking into as something I have always wanted to do and since I am having such a hard time here finding a teaching job I thought maybe now is the time. Well my dh mentioned it really and I did find one that allowed you to bring your family along as well
That is a must for me. So I am just seeing if anyone had any insight here about doing something like that.

I've had friends who have taught English in Japan. They liked it and found it rewarding. The one who was married wound up getting divorced though. It was too isolating for her DH being in rural Japan and not speaking Japanese. They do tend to put you in rural areas so it could be a bit lonely.

Re: Anyone teach overseas here?
I think it's a great opportunity and there are lots of schools worldwide where you can go. I personally don't teach but have lived overseas for the last 8 years (Cambodia, Tunisia and now Kenya). In every country we have been to there were/are American or International schools which teach according to the North American system. Here is a link to the schools where most State Department folks stationed at embassies and consulates around the world send their children: http://www.state.gov/m/a/os/c1684.htm
Pick a region you are interested in and get in touch with the schools directly. I am sure they can tell you how to go about applying. Good luck

Re: Anyone teach overseas here?
My cousin teaches English in China. He's been gone for 4 years now. Didn't make much money, they funded his apartment. Now that he's been there so long they offered him a better paying job at a University near Hong Kong and he accepted and starts in a few months.

Re: Anyone teach overseas here?
Do you have a credential? How about doing an international baccalaureate school? I haven't done it but I do teach IB courses here in the states.
