We've been enforcing a "no standing in the tub" rule since DS was 7 months old and starting pull up. He just sits on the floor and plays with toys while I shampoo/shave. I have to be a little more careful with rinsing the soap off so it doesn't get in his face, but it's really not a huge deal.

If you aren't comfortable with that idea, can you shower while he's napping?

Re: 18m while showering

It's been said but you put the kid in the shower with you, sitting down facing away from the water. DD, 2.5 does this when she wants in the shower with me. She doesnt like the water splashing in her face but doesn't care if it hits her back. Also she has never gotten soap in her eyes when she does turn around. As far as shaving..DD love shaving cream too and it keeps her occupied for a long time.

Another suggestion: put the kiddo in a high chair with some snacks either in the bathroom or in the doorway to the bathroom.

I try to shower while he's still sleeping. If he's awake he can come with me in the shower, or else I put him in the pack n play.

I always closed her in the master bedroom. I had a waterbed with drawers underneath that she would go through.

Or, i'd put on a video and pour some interesting objects on the bed to keep her attention so she'd stay in one spot.

Well my son is 2 now, I normally shower either at night when hes sleeping or during the day when he's napping. Sometimes I'll shower with him.

Shower after he goes to bed or before he gets up! Sleeping to 6:30am is still a luxury!

I can only shower when the kids are sleeping these days.

Re: 18m while showering

I do any number of things. I don't always shower first thing in the morning, sometimes I wait for nap time and shower when both girls are down for a nap. Sometimes I shower the night before. Sometimes I take my 2 yr old in the shower with me. Just depends on the situation.

Re: 18m while showering

If DH isn't home and I want to shower I just take her in with me. She loves the water and we've never had a problem with soap in her eyes...she has a blast! If I need to shave (I only shave if I plan on wearing shorts or a bathing suit that day) then I wait until DH is home.

Re: 18m while showering

I've done a few diff things.

Showered before he got up or during nap time (if I didn't work that day)
I had him in a johnny jump up in the bathroom doorway while I showered
put him in the shower with me (he hates it though so I don't do that anymore)
Now that he is a little older and LOVE Dora, I can put on a dora episode and run in and get a shower in and be done before his episode is over.
