Re: 18m while showering

My 18 month old can hang out in her room and not get into any trouble. I find it kinda clumsy to have her in the shower with me. She tends to slip and fall.

Re: 18m while showering

DD's room has a gate in the doorway & it happens to be right across the hall from the bathroom. I try to shower before she gets up (so I can get ready for work & drop her at the sitter's), but if it's the weekend, I hang out & have my coffee, then put her in her room w/ a fresh diaper on, turn the music on, & give her a little snack. She can pull the blankets out of her drawers, but not get into serious trouble & 75%+ of the time, she falls asleep for a good nap while I'm showering.

Re: 18m while showering

I shower at night after they go to bed. Or I'll shower during the day if DH is home to keep an eye on them

I have 3 options and there's days when 1 works better for me than the other. 1- she showers with me. 2- I shower during nap time. 3- I shower at night after H gets home so I can JUST. BE. ALONE. hehe!!

Is there room for a PnP in your bathroom? I used to pull it in when I needed to shower and play some peek-a-boo to keep him happy if needed.

Re: 18m while showering

My 22 month old is a book crazy boy. He has not climbed out of his crib yet. If DH is not home and DS is awake, I put him in his crib with books and toys and take a super quick shower. He loves his crib so he doesnt fuss at all. most of the time he wont get out of the crib even when I come to get him. I have to talk him into getting out

I put my DD in the highchair with snacks in the bathroom doorway. I usually turn on the sprout channel on tv and talk to her to keep her happy. My DD is too much of a water hog to shower with.

Re: 18m while showering

Usually I'll wait until DD's asleep (either naptime or for the night). That's the easiest solution, but doesn't always work.

Sometimes I'll bring her in with me. I give her some bath toys and put her at the end of the tub furthest from the shower head. There's a mat on the tub floor to keep her from slipping and she has fun playing. The soap from rinsing my hair is so diluted by the time it reaches her that it doesn't bug her. Shaving can be tricky... I just try and keep her distracted with toys.

I've also put her in her high chair with cereal just outside the bathroom door and played peek-a-boo with her through the shower curtains.
