I don't know which car seat to buy!
I have a 9 month old in a Graco Safe Seat 35.
He is getting to big to haul around in it so I want to switch him into my oldest son's Evenflo Triumph Advance. My oldest son will be 3 Sep.25th He is 40" tall and weighs about 38 lbs. I want to buy a new foward facing harness seat that will convert into a belt positioning booster, but most of the seats you can only use the harness up to 40lbs. I am NOT going to put my not even 3 year old in a booster because he meets the height/weight requirements. Too scary. We were in a car accident last year that got me admitted to the hospital, but my son came out without a scratch on him. I credit that to him being in a SAFE carseat. I need a carseat with a harness that goes up to at leat 50lbs that will convert to a belt positioning booster. I need it to not be huge bc we have a tiny hyundai accent, and I really can't afford much more than $100. Does anyone know of a good seat for me? I've been researching it, but I'm having a really hard time finding anything. |

If I were going to buy a forward-facing-only seat I would get the Graco Nautilus. All around great seat with high limits for bigger kids; it harnesses to 65 lbs and becomes a booster up to 100 lbs. My huge 5yo nephew still has lots of growing room and he finds it really comfy. Great price too, less than $140 at Amazon (Walmart sells them too, maybe for a comparable price).

If you have to stay under $100, your only option is really going to be the Evenflo Maestro. It's $80 and harnesses to 50 pounds, but you're going to need to buy a dedicated booster later because the maestro doesn't adjust.
If you can, i would swing the above recommended nautilus. |

Go to Target and look at the TrendZ Eurosport. It harnesses to 50 lbs (I think) and converts to booster. It is $99.
http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=179724 http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=179848 They have display models in Target stores but I don't think they will have ones for purchase until next month. You can leave the bucket in the car all the time in the meantime if it is too heavy to carry with baby inside.

If you can't swing a Nauti at the moment, why not just leave the carrier in the car and use it as a convertible. It will last you a lot longer than 9 months. (My 15 month old still fits!) and that way you can save up for a Nauti and not have to buy anything right now ![]() Also, there are very few harness to booster seats (Nautilus, Frontier, Maestro, Trendz Eurosport and the new First Years one) but they all harness to at least 50/65 pounds.
