Re: Anybody else's kid run high fevers, even with minor illness?

Wow! That is a pretty high fever! That would be scary.

My DD is 3. Ever since she was about 9 months old she has run a fever usually around 101 (sometimes up to 102) every once in a while. She will act lethargic and wake up in the middle of the night with "fever talk" but she never actually gets sick! I've asked all my friends and no one else seems to have experienced this. But my guess is that she must have a pretty good immune system and her body fights off a lot of things before it escalates. Strange thing is that when she actually has thrown up or has had a stuffy nose her fever was only around 99-100 - if anything.

My girls usually run 103-104 w/ viral illnesses. DD#3 had strep throat at the beginning of the year and her temp was over 105. I had to alternate Tylenol and Motrin for about 5 days every 2-3 hrs to keep it around 101.

Yep. My 4 year old, for instance. We all got sick over the past 5 days. My 2 year old first who now still has a runny nose and a cough. My 4 year old & myself were sick yesterday, both with 102-103 fevers, but are symptom free today. My DD has a runny nose & a cough and my DH is on his deathbed (half kidding).

The fever sucks but it usually makes the illness really short and non-existent within a day or 2.
I have had high fevers ever since I was a kid. Seems like my 4 year old took after me in this nature.
