I had the same problem w/ DD holding pee for hours and hours. I just kept pressing on and she finally caught on. I also had her help with cleaning up accidents and pee pee goes in the potty. Sounds like you're heading in the right direction!
DD has never been much of a drinker, which I suspect is why she doesn't go that often, but I felt like it gave her fewer chances to practice potty-ing. You can lead a horse to water (or a toddler to the sippy cup), but you can't make it drink!
