Grovia insert alternatives??

Ok, So I am finally getting the hang of cloth diapering...but I'm kinda confused with the AI2's. I use Grovias and their Grovia soaker inserts. Are there any alternative inserts you can use with them? I was thinking probably not b/c their snaps look different than any other snaps. Throw some ideas at me =)

good ol' prefolds or padfolded flats work awesome, too! They're the "original" AI2 diaper.

I think that GroVia may be the only one that backs their snap in soakers with TPU. I used pfs and inserts from other diapers. I too like flats folded in a cover.

I don't know of any inserts with the waterproof backing, maybe someone else knows.

So Ok this is where Im confused.....If nobody else backs their inserts how do you reuse the shell? Doesn't it go through to the shell? I have so much to learn.

Re: Grovia insert alternatives??

I've been using grovia shells with trifolded prefolds and often the shell liner does not get wet because the prefold was not soaked so I can just reuse the cover. If the shell gets damp, I let it air out and use again at the next change. I think grovias are really great for trifolding!

If the prefold is completely soaked then it will get the mesh lining wet, in that case I'd wash the shell. But most covers are a single layer of PUL (like thirsties or bummis or flips) and can be wiped out quick before re-using it. I haven't ever had a Grovia shell because I disliked the idea of the mesh lining.

If you're on top of diaper changes and exchange a wet prefold for a dry one quick enough, the shell won't be wet because the prefold might not be completely soaked through.
