Exclamation Best Baby "video" Monitor??

We are in the market for a new Monitor as we would like to start getting our Munchkin in his own room now. He going to be 2 in December and can easily get on and off the bed(very queitly) So we would like to get a video one with a screen display. So far I like the summer brand with the 5 inch screen because of the price but can easily see that its not very portable. Can you please share what you have? what you like? what you dont like? with me
Thanks so much!!!

Re: Best Baby "video" Monitor??

I tried summer, fisher price, lorex and settled on the First Years that just came out. The quality is not great but it seems to work decently. Most were really big one way or another. I wanted something with newer technology. I can't rave about any I tried.

We have the cheap video monitor by summer. Works great for us after 2 years. No issues at all. Well worth the 99$ we paid for it.

Re: Best Baby "video" Monitor??

We have the Philips Avent video monitor and it's been fabulous (but FTM so not familiar with others). The screen is maybe 2x2? Maybe a little less? But very, very clear picture with adjustable brightness, which is good for nighttime (we have an infant and so the monitor's on all. night. long. and it kinda lights up the bedroom otherwise). You can do picture/no sound and sound/no picture, which I imagine may or may not be useful for older kids. belt clip swivels around to provide a kickstand.
Rechargeable (li-ion?) battery, so no batteries to buy. Very easy to set up and adjust. PRICEY as I remember, but I do not regret the money spent at all.
I don't think that it has the option for switching between 2 feeds though, so may be less useful if you're watching 2 separate cribs

Re: Best Baby "video" Monitor??

We have a summer infant one with color picture & both a stationary base (maybe 4-5" screen) as well as a portable unit w/2" screen. I like it for the most part, but we do get some static noise at times which can be annoying. I haven't tried any of the others.

fyi- If you have a wireless router/internet at home some of the monitors may operate on the same frequency & have greater problems. I don't know much about it, but it's something my dh was concerned about which is largely why we chose this one that works on a different frequency.
