Blw and low iron

So we have been doing baby led solids, DS is one. They just did his blood test and he came up slightly anemic ( low iron).

While I offer lots of healthy options, he doesn't eat that much still. His faves are goldfish and fruit... The doc sent a list of suggested foods and quantities- half of which are baby food (not going to happen- DS won't tolerate me feeding him at all) but the quantities of the rest seem like a lot!

For example: it says he needs 11mg/day, which he could get from 1.5 c dried apricots, 1.5 c lentils, 2 c cooked spinach etc... He doesn't eat nearly that much in a day!

Anyone BTDT or any advice? He is healthy, so I'm sure it's very slight anemia, but I'd like to fortify him anyway - can't hurt!

I think, if you're still breastfeeding, that I'd try to get extra iron in your own diet as well. That could account for a lot.

Re: Blw and low iron

What about prunes, warmed up a bit to soften?

1.5 cups of anything for a baby is pretty unrealistic, IMO!! I would just do the best you can.
