That is sad and disturbing. Is that even safe?

Yuck! my 8 month old was in sposies recently cause I needed to use some diaper rash cream, but I literally changed him immediately right after the tiniest bit of pee because I hate how sposies get that gross jello texture. Ew

Re: What my SIL said to me...

Only at night. And even then, he doesn't sleep 12 hours, so it's more like 8 hours before he gets changed again, unless he poops. Then he gets changed right away, no matter what time it is.

During the day? No way! My cloth would never last that long, anyway. I have found one disposable that would, and maybe it's what she uses. Pampers Baby Dry. It's what I use at night, and it holds A LOT.

But yeah, that's gross. So uncomfortable, I'm sure. And what if the baby poops? Are the poopy diapers really not being changed, because it's not "time"?

that is exactly what i was thinking, ewww who would want to sit in pee that long. some of my family members do this as well, it makes me sad when i see their children with saggy diapers. i'll be the first to cloth diaper in my families generation so i know i'll get a lot of "your changing him again?!?" kind of comments. "yes i'm changing my child when he wets, is that such a crazy concept??" silly people.

Re: What my SIL said to me...

It's really sad that people assume that they can go that long between diaper changes just because the diaper will hold it all. Night is of course understandable but come on.

:-(( this makes me sad. I was recently talking to a friend of mine who used to babysit for a little girl. Her parents changed her very infrequently and she ended up getting a severe infection which caused her urine to go back inside of her and pool... And babies can get UTIs from infrequent diaper changes! I hope this doesn't happen for the poor baby's sake

Re: What my SIL said to me...

That's a big part of why I use cloth diapers. I like to change frequently, it just seems more sanitary. I feel like I *have* to change my son every two hours even in disposables. As soon as the diaper is squishy at all, I know he's wet, and it just seems like it's time to change. Lol. And he's not a heavy wetter. So he'd barely be wet when I'd change him and it seemed so wasteful. Sure they can hold a lot...but I'm all for frequent changes. Oh and I use disposables at night and after 6-10 hrs it's what we call super squishy! I wouldn't want him having a diaper that full throughout the day, that's for sure.

Sadly this is not the first time I have heard this story. ( or one line it)
Someone a while back posted about a woman who was looking into cloth because her DD has bad rash. Well after getting more of the story, she was only changing 3x a day. Poor DD.

I am on my phone La, La, La!

Re: What my SIL said to me...

Yuck.

My son's overnight sposie doesn't always hold his super-soaker pee. Lots of time I have to change it around 3-5 am---it gets put on him around 8:30 pm. So, it lasts maybe 8 hours most nights.

He is in cloth during the day & gets changed every 2 hours & does a couple hours of naked time/potty learning as well.
