Re: When is/was your first appointment?

First appointment was this morning and I absolutely love the midwife!

BUT....

Since I mc'd last month, was positive for group b strep last pregnancy & uti this past week, she's really concerned that I may be positive, which can cause mc I have to wait 3-4 days for results.

Also.... I can't believe how expensive mw is in california! 1500 more than in washington state. yikes! Hoping to find another doula trainee or beginner that will accept less money as doulas here are $800-1500... and that ain't happening!

Re: When is/was your first appointment?

Glad you love your midwife. I'm totally jealous!! I wish we had them here! Darn you Southern IL. Not really the words i'd choose to use, but I have to remember I'm on DS. I hope and will keep positive thoughts your way.

I'm still interviewing midwives. I met one Sunday but I didn't love her, I meet another on Thursday and one other on Tuesday. I hope the Thursday one works out cause she comes highly recommended.
The Tuesday one just assumed I was picking her with out an interview and that kind of rubbed me the wrong way, but I hear she is very good to so I'm trying to chalk that up to a misunderstanding.

All are home birth midwives who come to me for most of the appointments as well as the birth (duh). Lol

Re: When is/was your first appointment?

We only have one home birth midwife in the area (couple hours from where I am). I called today and found out she still comes out our area so I'm thrilled about that. But I can't schedule until closer to April, like February or March.

Otherwise, I'm just hoping I get a decent OB.

ETA! I just got the only midwife in the area! I don't mind having to drive 2 hours to see her and she has a trainee in the area that can visit come winter. I'm so thrilled!

Re: When is/was your first appointment?

First appointment is Monday the 29th.
Then midwife appointment is the 6th.

I thought I was going to have to wait 'til 13 weeks like I did with my boys!

WOOHOO!

Hoping we all have wonderful visits!

Re: When is/was your first appointment?

Amy, that is exciting!!!!

My friend/neighbor is going to do the doula training here soon so she is going to help me for free!!! I don't really need a doula and the midwives, I know what I need and delivered with these midwives last time but she needs her hours. I think we are going to set up post partum doula stuff so she gets that experience! It's going to be so much fun

Re: When is/was your first appointment?

My 1st OB appt is Sept. 16th but we're touring a birth center/interviewing a midwife on Tuesday I still haven't convinced DH that a BC is the way to go so I'm hoping that after this tour, he'll be "enlightened" and never want to go to an OB again

Re: When is/was your first appointment?

I confirmed my pregnancy with my PCP and had an HCG and Progesterone done but I'm still waiting on results. It was Monday when I saw them.

Then I'll see my Gyn to do a second HCG and an u/s at 6 weeks.

Then my first official appt is 9/27 with my ob/gyn and I'll be 9 weeks, 1 day
