I do home daycare and want to start a preschool program, suggestions?
I have been doing home daycare for the last 4 years and would like to start a preschool program for my older kids that I watch. I am really clueless as to where to start. I don't have a lot of money, so I don't want to purchase preschool programs. I do have the preschool prep company videos and the your baby can read videos. What kind of activities can I do on a daily basis with them to help them to succeed?

Just go online and search for preschool curriculum. Preschoolers learn through hands on activities. You could do a circle time each day and then a project and center time. Id write more but I'm on my phone and its hard to type lol.

Re: I do home daycare and want to start a preschool program, suggestions?
letteroftheweek.com is a great full curriculum. Theheadoftheclass.com is good too. I also like Five in a Row, which I bought the teacher guide on eBay for $20, and get the books from my library.

Re: I do home daycare and want to start a preschool program, suggestions?
I used a lot of resources from www.dltk-kids.com with my preschool class.
Letter of the week/day is a great idea. A weekly theme works well, too. Check out books from your local library to go along with your themes and keep the costs down. Keep the activities short - 15 to 20 minutes. Most preschools do a daily "circle time" with calendar and weather activities. If you google "Dr. Jean" you should find resources with many fun songs that go along with that. My class loved to do days of the week, months, counting (we counted the days of school up to 100), and weather. Got to run - dinner time. But let me know if you want more detailed examples. I still have my lesson plans pretty handy. |
