Need some suggestions for a friend interested in cloth...

Hey Mamas!

I need your help, plllease! My friend mentioned to me that she is interested in cloth, and wanted to try it... but she wouldn't be able to afford the up-front costs.

If she really wants to try CDing, I'd really love to buy her something to start her out, to at least try it, to see if she likes it. But I can't really shell out a lot of $ right now.

Any advice or suggestions on what kind of small start out stash I could get her? So that she could then build it from there. I'd like to get the most bang for my buck, but I want it to be afforable, and easy for her. So I was thinking AIOs? But they're SO pricey. I really wish I could have gotten some seconds for her from CB, because AIOs seem like a good system for her to try out at first.

Thanks Mamas!

maybe some kawaii heavy duty pockets? Those hold up well, and they're pretty cheap.

I'd probably try pockets first, they seem to be cheaper and you can get those used even that still look great. I really like flats and prefolds better though. LOL. Hope you find something she likes. It may take a while to fine something she likes. Maybe one of everything or something?! Hope you get some good ideas.

I have never tried Kawaii's before, but they sound nice! That is a definite possibility! Thanks Mama!

I would also suggest pockets. They are easy to use and fast drying so there would be little or no learning curve.

Pockets do sound like a good first for her to try. Now that I think about it, I tried pockets first, myself!

I could get her a cover or two or maybe just 1 Econobum cover with the 3 prefolds to try out. I'm not sure if she'd take to prefolds, at least first anyway. Good thinking of one of everything! I like that idea.

Thanks for your help! I appreciate it!

www.assuntastore.com

These are FANTASTIC diapers, despite the dirt cheap price tag.

I've started with PFs, went to fitteds, then pockets, then AIOs, now I'm back at PFs. You never know what she'll like, so one of everything would be an awesome way to start out.

I'm not sure of your budget, but if I was buying a gift for someone I'd go with some seconds off the CB website; they still have flip covers and flip inserts. They also have some AIO's for $10, and some pockets for $10 (without inserts). Maybe a dozen prefolds for trifolding in the flip covers (Diaper Rites or GMD would probably fit best) depending what age the LO was.

I would go with pockets because they're easy to use and you can find some inexpensive ones. Maybe try different brands though since some people love one brand and others hate it.
