Backpack Suggestions, please! LL Bean, Lands End, or PBK?

Hey Mamas!

DS#1 will be going to Daycare & attending the Pre-K class starting in March. I had an idea to get him a good quality backpack for Christmas, with his initials personalized on it.

Would you suggest I go with LL Bean, Lands End, or Pottery Barn Kids? I have a coupon code for Lands End and one for PBK, as well. I am just curious as to which of all three are of higher quality, that will last him years to come?

Thanks in advance for your help!

LLBean has a lifetime warranty that you can get the bag replaced at anytime if something happens to it. I'd go with that one, but I'm not familiar with the other companies... In fact, I have my LLBean bag that I got in 9th grade (over 15 years ago) that the zipper is shot on and I'm going to send it back someday (soon?) to get a new one!

I am a huge fan of LLBean backpacks, I still have the one my parents bought me for 7th grade - I'm 35 by the way! I used it all though middle school, high school and college and still use it for day hiking trips.

However, I just bought a PBK backpack for DD. She started pre-school last week and is only 2.5. The smallest one made by LLBean would be way to large for her, even when empty. The PBK is a perfect fit on her and she & I are both really pleased with it.

When she gets older and big enough to carry a LLBean backpack, that's probably what I'll get her, but for now PBK was the right choice.

My oldest ds in on his 3rd year with his camo LL Bean one and it looks practically new. I plan on getting all of my younger kids LL Bean backpacks as they need them.

Ll bean from 5 years ago looks new. I also bought the Lands End lunch bags that year. Still functioning and not broken or anything bit don't look new like the bag.

Hope that helps. No pbk experience.

Lands End has a satisfaction guarantee like LL Bean, I would go with one of those two.

We've got both Land's End and LL Bean around here, and both have lifetime replacement. Both have also held up well. I also like PBK, and I would say that those seem to be the best made of all three--heavier fabric and more organizational type pockets. However, the preschool bag is tiny, and it did not even fit a regular size sheet of paper, so we ended up with a different school bag.

I LOVE LL.BEAN!!! I have several including my original from middleschool. I am 33 and have used it for EVERYTHING. Middle,High, College, Planes, trains, and automobiles, daytrips and hospital stays. It is awesome. I have the Deluxe Book Pack. My BFF since childhood has one too and used the warranty after 10+ years with no issue.
