Stories like these (and they're not stories, really, they're REAL LIFE!) are why I rear face my kids as long as I can too! So glad you are all ok!!

I've watched many, many crash test videos on youtube and I couldn't NOT rf my lil man. He is just so tiny and fragile to me. I've always said he would ride RFing until he maxed out his particular Britax, but I'm going to check around and look for a seat that will rf longer. Any suggestions?

I did however have a large window shade that covered the back glass. I got it from BRU, it had no hard plastic or anything on it..just the thin shade and 4 suction cups. No idea what happened to it in the crash. The shade on his window (which I know wasn't safe) was the regular pull down shade, it fell to the outside of the car.

If his old seat RFd to 40lbs, the only American seats with higher RFing weights are the Diono Radian 120 & RXT, or Sunshine Kids Radian XTSL or 80sl

This is that one time, that things could have gone bad, but you did all the right things, and while you had quite a scare, you get your family to hold tonight

. For all those who think, well I survived just fine without, or it's just too much bother, and think this can never happen to them, well I hope they see your story and think for a second and leave that seat facing the back just a little longer. Blessings to your family.

Wow I'm so glad you are all ok!

I was in a crash last August in which I was hit at 75+ mph and walked away with only minor injuries. My kids were not with me but I was very thankful that my car held up so well and did such a great job of transferring the energy. I had a BMW SUV and replaced it with another one. Their crash safety is awesome.
