carseat for a little houdini?

I've been thinking about getting Fox a Britax Regent (if I can ever find one instock that is lol). But lately he's a little houdini! We were on our way to Albq the other day (about a 3 hr drive) and he got out of his carseat going down the highway

So, does anyone know if a Regent would be a good choice? Is there something else thats great for an escape artist?

How did he get out? Did he squirm out? Or did he unbuckle? If he squirmed out I would say maybe the harness was a bit to loose?

What kind of seat is he in now?

When DS started doing that I called britax and they sent a new style chest clip (that you had to press down on topand bottom to get it to release) and that solved our problems until DS was old enough to understand he couldnt unbuckle his seat while we were moving.

Plus, new clips are a bit more stiff...so its harder for little hands to undo

He's in a Cosco Alpha Omega. I don't know how old it is though I just barely learned not too long ago that carseats actually expire It was Kikis, we got it when she was 2 or 3 so its got to be 6 or 7 years old. Of course, all the stickers are peeled off the outside so I can't check dates or anything...

So, he definately needs a new carseat....just gotta figure out what to buy

Re: carseat for a little houdini?

I think he'll be able to undo the regent too, my 4 year old can get unbuckled, and she was the slowest learning how to. She knows that its against the law to unbuckle when the car is moving, maybe talking to a police officer with him would help. Good luck!

Thats an idea, talking to an officer about it, but then that would basically be using fear to keep him from doing it. I don't think I want to associate fear with police...

I could always get the regent for him, see if it works, and if it doesn't, use it for my dd who I also want back in a 5pt harness....she's 9 yrs old but only about 50 lbs.

Still open to suggestions though
