Thanks! My kids' rooms are an ongoing struggle for me too. I am also working on weeding out plastic and transitioning in durable wooden toys over time. I did a big purge on the kids' rooms this week, but I will be watching closely what is actually getting used so I can get rid of more.

Here is my 2 yr old daughter's room & closet:

Re: pictures of minimalists homes

I only have bathroom pictures to share tonight, but will try and add some more over the weekend.
If you notice that in both bathrooms the pictures aren't hung on the walls. I haven't decided if I should hang the picture or not downstairs (by toilet) as I don't really LOVE it but it does match and fits the small area, upstairs its the shelf sitting on the table that hasnt' been hung. I got rid of so many small dust collectors I don't think I'll rehang it as I really don't have a use for it.
(please excuse the dust bunnies...) Its funny I have less than half of what was in these rooms just a few months ago and I still feel that there is more that needs to go.

Funny, to me it looks just organized and cleaned up, never knew I was a minimalist, thought I was a bit ocd about stuff laying around, lol.

I have only just started moving in the direction of minimalism. My pics were of my house after the first big purge. Now I am at the point of evaluating what is actually getting used before round 2. But, like I said, we will be keeping family photos around because it is pretty much the only way for my kids to "see" extended family. We are a military family living in Hawaii and everyone we know & love live in Western NY.

So yeah, there are definitely homes out there that are definitely more minimalist than ours.

Re: pictures of minimalists homes

I don't think I'm minimalist in the true sense of the word. I am just trying to pare things down so that everything has a place and the house doesn't look cluttered. Most of all, I want to be able to find the things I do have when I need them and not have to go searching in 20 places that I might have stuck them.

DD1's bedroom

Bathroom

DD2's bedroom-just moved into this room. DH is making a wooden valance for the closet and we'll hang curtains there.

DS's room

Hall

Living Room

Kitchen

The master bedroom is missing. It is the room that is the mess. We just moved DD2 into the room that used to be the office/sewing room. I've assimilated the office things into the daycare space, but the sewing stuff is just piled in my room. This week my plan was to finish the sewing projects on my list and then see what fabric I have left. Haven't got that far yet, maybe next week.
