So excited!

Ds was 7 months yesterday and today he latched on with out the nipple shield. Then i forgot to bring it to church and he nursed two more times with out it. It was shorter nursing sessions closer together but its progress!!!

Re: So excited!

Yay! I weaned my DD off of a nipple shield around 5 months. My nipples were really sore for awhile (not as bad as the 1st 2 weeks, but pretty bad), but then they toughened up and it was soooo worth it!

Re: So excited!

Yay, this is very exciting. We only used a shield for 4 weeks, but I remember those 4 weeks seemed like so long, and I was just so thrilled when she latched without. I would imagine that he should have it down soon. He MIGHT still need it some at night, but once DD started latching for a whole feeding without it, it was only 2 days before we said buh-bye to it for good

Re: So excited!

This is very encouraging! My friend had her baby a week ago and hasn't been able to get a latch at all without a shield and sometimes can with a shield. She knows it will be a long road but it's sooo nice to read about success stories!

Re: So excited!

Your so lucky, I have a 3 month old and she has only latched without it once and only for a very few mins. I am always loosing them because they are clear and so small. It's so frustrating!

I only used shields for 10 days with my first son and that felt like forever! I remember how excited and relieved I was the first time he latched without them. I can't imagine how relieved you must be! WTG on sticking with bfing so long despite that inconvenience. It's amazing what we can get used to, isn't it??
