Diapers - what's working, what's not?

What is everyone loving/hating on your newbie so far?

Pictures always welcome.

Re: Diapers - what's working, what's not?

For us, I adore the Diaper Drive Thru fitteds and newborn Monkey Doodlez. I love their pockets and AIOs.

If I have to use a PUL cover, I like xs Thirsties way better than the Bummis Super Brite. Ick. I don't know why everyone recommends those.

The Loveybums wool wraps are my absolute favorite covers, but I like the tiny interlock pull ons, too.

The small Fuzzi Bunz, small Happy Heineys, and BGOS are all absurdly huge. They don't work at all.

I think Cate is abput 8lbs - need to weigh her tomorrow.

Ooh, good thread!

What I love:
My WAHM fitteds
KLOs
NB Monkey Doodlez
XS Very Baby AIOs
NB Bummis Super Brites covers (funny you hate them Laura! I like my Thirsties okay, but they are still huge! Wanna trade me for your Bummis? )

What I don't love
Bummis preemie prefolds
GMD oranges
Happy Heiney mini

What is still too big...
BG XS AIOs
Thirsties XS covers
Blueberry Mini
Fuzzibunz XS
All my wool

For reference, I don't know Katelyn's exact weight, but I'm guessing 6.5-7lbs

Valerie - I would, if only I had enough sense to make it to the PO nowadays.

And I'm with you not loving the GMD oranges - they are huge! I don't know how I did all standard infant ones with ds!

Re: Diapers - what's working, what's not?

Well right now Ella has been in sposies.

Her umbilical cord fell off early and it has been really messy and oozy. It was making a mess out of our wool and all our PUL covers are too big and irritate the cord stump.

What I have liked the best:

-Ragababe NB AIO - They fit perfectly and don't irritate her cord stump. Only have 2 though.
- Mutt NB fitteds DH favorite. Fit and work great.
- Megaroo Infant Extended Tabs - absorbent and trim. Love them.
- GMD Orange Prefolds - These fit well.
- WCW Wool - The only thing that fits and doesn't irritate her cord. They were a mess from the cord after one diaper change though, thus our sposie break we are on right now. I hope to have her back in cloth full time on Monday.

LOL, I totally feel you! It's just funny, because I have been cruising FSOT for them and it's the thing you hate! Just goes to show diapering is personal and each babe is different!

Re: Diapers - what's working, what's not?

Everything works fine for us. Only issue is DD was larger than planned....

Covers I have work perfectly, don't know name off the top of my head. the BGs work good, they are the tiny ones, only they seem a bit small too...fitteds are small, even if they could fit perfectly around the belly, her thighs are so chunky, so sometimes the fit is not right because of the snaps settings...

I have used a few size small or whatever the next size is called for the brand, while they fit great, her belly button is covered, and I worry about her cord being ripped off or getting pee or poop in/on it

Flats work, but leak poop, I might try again, see if I can get a better seal on her legs. Prefolds work good too, she had a huge poop and it also leaked out the side. I love both of these looks though. I did take a picture of each, not the greatest, but just to show/remember.

I will post pictures later

My almost 2 year old, 32 pound DS still fits into a Small Fuzzibunz on the last snaps. And he is not 32 pounds because of his height. He is short and fat. I'd imagine that even the XS FBs would be way too big for a newborn! Our Large Swaddlebees are nearly the same size.

I can't wait to use my teeny tiny diapers again!

I only have BGOS and they have been stretched out by two kiddos so I haven't tried them yet. LO is in sposies and it's disgusting how many we are going through in a day.

Ooh fun thread! I have been taking pictures of Micah in every diaper possible to put together on my blog for all my customers who refuse to believe me when I tell them what does and doesn't for a nb and as a frame of reference.

Micah was weighed yesterday and was 8 lbs 14 oz

These are my absolute favs:
Bububebe fitted paired with a NB wool cover from fairy designs on etsy or my homemade fleece covers

Swaddlebees fitteds, both the old organic cotton ones and the new ones they just released

Blissful booty nb aio with the extra soaker that came with it

Knickernappies size small pocket fit from the day he was born and was super gentle on his cord.

Prefolds given to me by a friend that are wide, short, and thick and have a blue edge ( I need to ask her what brand they are) paired with a SWW or a SBW.

Here is what I haven't liked:
Any other AIO other than Blissful Booty including the Grovia Nb and the BG Nb they leak every single time!

One size diapers of any kind are too bulky if they fit. Knickernappies did fit but were bulky, none of the others have fit so far.

Prowrap covers. Hatted them rough, tight, and loud

Infant sized prefolds are too big still.

Any other size small diaper

Last thing I wanted to mention is the smaller bummis tot bot AiO just. Started fitting yesterday and I really like it as well.
