Spent the overnight hours in the ER

started throwing up blood last night around 11pm. Decided to go to the ER a little before 2am. Got fluids, more zofran and phenergan. Was told to be on an clear liquid diet I tore my esophagus which is what the bleeding is from. It felt like a swallowed a golf ball that was on fire. There is nothing they can do for it other than stop the vomiting so it can start healing. In the mean time, I still feel like there is a golf ball in there, but it's not currently on fire. I'm exhausted because well it's almost impossible to sleep in the ER!

My midwife is coming over tomorrow to check on me I suppose. Idk what she's going to do for sure.

Re: Spent the overnight hours in the ER

Will be sending healing vibes your way. Hopefully you can get the vomiting stopped soon. That would have been awful to spend the night throwing up blood and being in the ER. Hopefully when baby finally gets here he/she is the best little one ever with all that you have been dealing with.

I will never complain about vomitting again.

So sorry. I hope it heals quickly. In fact, I pray that this horrid vomitting ends completely any day now for you!

Re: Spent the overnight hours in the ER

Thanks ladies. I was very lucky last night to have a nurse who had hyperemesis with both of her pregnancies too, so she completely understood and didn't try to tell me I just needed to eat crackers and drink gingerale. She was very sympathetic and helpful. It helped since I was there all alone since DH had to stay home with the kids.

The HG didn't end until 22 weeks with my first one so I'm not seeing this ending any time soon, but i'm hoping for it to be a little easier on me soon.

Anyone have any ideas for my clear liquid diet that isn't water, juice or chicken broth? My stomach is HUNGRY!

Glad to hear you had an understanding nurce! How about Apple Cider or Tea. Is Apple Sauce too thick?

I'm terrible with ideas, but how about popsicles or jello?
