Public transit with babies?

The few times we took taxis we prefer to use carseats, but in two cases, in foriegn countries we did have to forgo the car seat and I felt terrible doing in. In one case we did borrow a seat from the taxi company because it was the better option. I wish I had, had my seat, but we had six flights and zero plans for car travel, so these were not expected rides Normally I am really pro-carseat too

But for Subway, Train and bus, we have traveled with no seat many times, because you can not use them. Most of the time DS was in an Ergo, but now he is getting older we just try to make sure he sits well in his seat.
