higher rf weight
My 6mo old is already 25lbs(he was 8.9 at birth) his current seat is to 35lb rf. I know he will outgrow that weight limit before he turns 2. The highest weight limit rf i see is 45lb. Is there one that has higher then that for rf?? I have a feeling that he will hit 35lb at around 18 months old. Id like to keep him rf as long as possible even if that means getting a $$$$$ seat, Id rather not spend over $150 but I might have to huh?

Re: higher rf weight
In the US, the highest RF weight is the Sunshine Kids Radian XTSL (45lbs) soon to be Diono.
Because of the company name change, lots of the Sunshine Kids seats are on sale right now, and you'll probably be able to find the XTSL for around $200. Keep in mind that weight does slow down eventually, and the most kids will be less than 45lbs at 2 years old. (Not saying yours won't be, but it's unlikely.) When does his current seat expire? Can you set money aside each month until the seat expires or he outgrows it rear facing and then purchase a seat when you need it?

Re: higher rf weight
Don't count it out just yet. My oldest was HUGE! Got to 32 lbs before 2 year old. But now at almost 3, he has just gotten taller, and not heavier.

Re: higher rf weight
Right now his expires in 2014 since it was mfr in 05/08. I know they slow down eventually, but considering how big he already is and Id like to get him to age 3 RF I doubt that the measly 35lb RF weight limit on his Tribute(might be triumph lol it was $49 at walmart-i get the 2 confused). My 2yo is 26lbs and never gained this fast neither did my 4yo(36lbs) so Im just trying to get prepared and find a higher RF seat in the event that he is a beast at 2 lol
Can foreign seats be ordered? Are they useable in the US?

Foreign seats are illegal in the US but plenty people import them. They are ridiculously expensive too. Honestly I would not worry about it yet. 10lbs is a lot of weight to gain and since he will be mobile soon if he isn't already his weight will slow a lot. DD didn't gain any weight from 20 months to 30 months. She was 28lbs at 20 months so we ended up with 4 radians thinking she would be a chunk...she is almost 3 and only 31lbs with clothes on. Maybe save up some $ just in case you do need a Swedish seat but I wouldn't worry quite yet!

Re: higher rf weight
good to know...Unfortunitly it looks like hes going to keep gaining(7lbs in 2 months?) and even with his weight slowing down he will be 35lbs before hes 2 I wouldnt be surprised if he hit 35lbs by his birthday, its 10lbs away and 6months away....

For $49 you more than likely have a tribute. If your child is on the tall side you will probably need another seat before 35 lbs. The tribute is a small seat, it will be outgrown early.

Re: higher rf weight
My DS was 7 lbs at birth, 13 lbs at 2 months, 21 lbs at 6 months, then only 24lbs at a year. Like pp have said, their weight gain does slow down. My aunt bought my kiddo some sleepers in 18 month size last christmas because he was already in 12 mo at 7 mo old, well he is 17 months and those sleepers are still huge on him. You should be fine with your current car seat for a while yet.

Re: higher rf weight
He may outgrow the Tribute by height before weight. I would consider saving up for a seat now, so when you do need it, you have more options. You can import seats from other countries, but it's illegal to use them and really expensive. ($600+).
